Environmental Planner/Scientist/Permitting Specialist

The Louis Berger Group, Inc. (Berger) seeks an environmental planner/scientist/permitting specialist in its Washington, DC and Exton, PA offices to assist in a variety of energy and utility projects throughout the U.S., including electrical transmission, wind power, and other energy services projects. 

The qualified individual should have experience in and be responsible for interpreting and ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations; planning, directing and coordinating siting/permitting projects; and task and project management.  Duties would include writing environmental analysis documents; conducting desktop and field studies; preparing environmental permit documents; participating in meetings and agency consultation; and related miscellaneous tasks as needed.

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

·         A Bachelors or Masters degree in planning, environmental policy, environmental studies/science, or related fields

·         Five (5) or more years of experience in environmental consulting, preferably with experience in the energy/utility industry

·         Knowledge of federal and state (esp. PA, NJ, WV) environmental regulations, NEPA, and other compliance regulations

• Willingness to travel 20-25% (within US).
• Ability to form work products with little management direction to meet specific desired objectives, and to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently
• Strong writing and organization skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of GIS/CAD a plus
• Natural resources/wetland delineation background/experience a plus.
