Recreation Survey Clerk – Richmond, VA
Louis Berger, a top 25 ENR firm with offices throughout the nation, is a multidisciplinary architecture, engineering, planning, and environmental consulting firm with rewarding opportunities based out of our Richmond, Virginia office for qualified candidates. Actual job duties will be performed along the James River near Williamsburg and Jamestowne Island.
For a survey of recreation access sites along the James River, Berger will hire 2 individuals for work as temporary, part-time employees to perform data collection conducting visual spot counts, administering a predetermined survey questionnaire and completing site utilization forms.
At the onset of the assignment, Louis Berger would provide training to the survey clerk to explain the nature of the project, the logistics involved, survey collection methodology, and data recording procedures, and how to handle situations where a person does not wish to provide information. Survey clerks must travel in pre-determined circuits to recreation sites, trailheads, and other identified points that are adjacent to the James River. Survey clerks would intercept people at the sites while they are actively recreating and administer the survey. In addition to the survey, clerks would complete a site utilization form for each recreation area that captures the amount of use at each site each day. Once data is collected, the data needs to be input, formatted, and collated. Louis Berger staff would oversee the individuals as they administer the survey and conduct data collection and be available to answer questions and provide guidance to ensure accurate collection and recording of data.
The data collection effort would with a part-time schedule between September and December 2016. Work hours would be defined by the study methodology. Each survey day would be 6-8 hours. Survey clerks must work weekends and holiday weekends (Thanksgiving) during the study period
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Work weekends and holiday weekends as directed by the study and supervisor.
- Personal vehicle for travel to and from sites as well as between the various recreation sites (will be reimbursed for mileage driven as part of the survey).
